Robert Trautmann
Robert studied Political Science at Rutgers University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2002. During his time at Rutgers, Robert established himself as a star Rugby player and served as the captain of the Rugby Team. Throughout college, Robert worked at his brother’s law firm, where he developed a deep passion for the legal system specifically as a mechanism to help people in need. After graduating, Robert attended Seton Hall School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate Degree in 2005.
Robert’s legal career includes a wide array of legal expertise centered mostly around the insurance industry. Robert developed a unique set of skills in insurance litigation and regulatory practice during his time as counsel for a major national insurance company. He is a well-respected trial attorney with a reputation for fighting tirelessly to ensure that his clients get the best result possible. Having mastered the skills necessary for insurance-related litigation, and always desirous of serving the community, Robert switched sides to represent policyholders seeking to recover from their carriers. Robert developed a practice representing people impacted by loss and who were either denied coverage by their carriers or were significantly underpaid. In 2012, when Hurricane Sandy devastated New Jersey, Robert’s skills became vital to the recovery of hundreds of Sandy’s victims who had lost everything.
Before joining Lerner, Arnold & Winston, Robert was part of the executive team and general counsel to an international company specializing in servicing foreign medical providers navigating the United States health insurance industry. In this capacity, Robert developed and honed a keen business and regulatory acumen. Through the team’s efforts and guided by Robert’s legal and business insight, the company saw tremendous growth. However, his passion for fighting for individuals and companies harmed by wrongful insurance denials has drawn him back to his roots as a trial attorney fighting for the underdog.
Robert volunteers significant amounts of time and money advocating for orphans in Uganda, Guatemala, and locally within New Jersey through Children’s Hope Chest, an organization that equips orphaned and vulnerable children to escape the cycle of poverty that they were born into. Robert is intensely passionate about working to help and advocate for victims of unfortunate circumstances and catastrophes and he has made it his goal to impact as many lives as possible.
Robert’s passion and mission are fighting for the little guy. Making sure insurance companies provide the coverage they promised to their policyholders and providers is an ideal outlet for this passion.
